It allowed me to read deeper into description on how the themes "appearance" and "heroism" relate to the story.

Except it wasn’t a boring word for word of the story. It is a video of cartoon characters, caption clouds above the characters heads with words in it, and jokes to get the audience interested. After watching this video, the understanding of “A&P” was even clearer. This video will be used to explain the short story before the blog is presented.

This database article assisted me in learning about John Buchanan’s passion for John Updike’s writing and the influential background Updike has had on Buchanan. John Updike had such a positive background from his fellow writers and readers and John Buchanan’s article on literary criticism is a perfect example of the positive influences.

The biography states the family Updike created with his first wife, the publishers and editors that assisted him in writing, the places he lived, where and why he wrote his stories, and the college he attended to receive his English major. This biography was helpful to me because it assisted me in understanding where he came from and a background of where the story “A&P” came from. It always makes the story a little more clear when you know background information.

It taught me that Updike was an only child who lived with his grandparents and parents. Also it allowed me to have a more personal understanding on how he thought his childhood was.

I talked about how the first impression of the three girls that approach the store "A&P" influence Sammy to quit his job. Within this website it explained how the first impression of someone else can influence the individual who viewed another person and how long it takes for a first impression to stick into someones head.

This article written by Catherine Sustana allowed me to read excess information about the short story "A&P" by John Updike. It mentioned the year that the story was published and I used that information in my interpretation essay to discuss the influences of the setting. The year it was published influences the reactions given from the employees of the store "A&P" because three girls that approached the store were in bikinis.

He explains the frustration that Sammy built up from the girls appearance and the manager confronting the girls for doing the wrong thing. I used this resource to read about the short story from another individuals point of view to use for my blog.

This video is not based on literary criticism about John Updike. However, it is an interview in video form of John Updike giving advice to young writers. The literary criticism is being given to young writers from John Updike and it is a thoughtful video from Updike. It shows the potential he had as a writer and the key points he established throughout his journey.
